Introducing The Obscured Mirror

Welcome to my blog The Obscured Mirror! This introduction marks the beginning of a space I've been thinking about for a long time—a place to share insights, explore the field of psychological, and reflect on the intersections between psychology, the criminal justice system, and the human condition.

This blog will serve two main purposes. First, it’s a platform for me to share ideas, perspectives, and knowledge gained through my academic and professional work in psychology. Much of what I plan to write about draws from topics I often teach or discuss in the classroom: foundational psychological theories, classic and contemporary experiments, and the ever-evolving science of human behavior. There’s so much we don’t get to spend time with in class, or sadly don’t get to cover at all, so these blog posts will act as a supplement to my classroom material, offering further depth for students, while remaining accessible to anyone with an interest in psychology.

Second, The Obscured Mirror will also chronicle an upcoming project I’m undertaking—a venture I’ll be launching soon and one that I hope will evolve in real time with this blog. Writing about it here allows me to stay accountable to the work, and also invites others to engage with its progress. I’ll share more details about this project in the next post.

Alongside psychology, I also plan to weave in themes from philosophy, phenomenology, and the existential questions that shape our understanding of the self and society. How do we know what we know? How do we relate to the systems we live within? And how can psychological science help us make sense of our place in the world? I hope to also ask broader questions—about morality, identity, justice, and connection—that psychology alone doesn’t always answer, but can meaningfully inform.

Posts will be published at least monthly, if not biweekly, depending on the season and schedule. Whether you're a student, a fellow professional, or just someone curious about the inner workings of the mind and the systems that shape behavior, I hope you’ll find something thought-provoking here.

Thanks for joining me at the start of this journey!
